I have been married to my husband, Greg, for 34 years and we have two grown married children. We live in the foothills of Manitou Springs where we enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with friends and family.
I’m Moira Smith and for over 35 years I have come alongside math students at every level and helped them make strides in their math skills, comprehension, and proficiency. I specialize in working with advanced level students looking to master complex concepts and prepare for exams, but I also work with many students who just need a boost or a breakthrough to overcome frustration or challenging concepts.

Students who have come to me frustrated, discouraged, even resentful about math have, with tutoring, gained greater understanding, ability, capacity, and confidence. I’ve seen many students overcome their fear of math and test anxiety. Likewise, I’ve helped numerous advanced students overcome mental blocks and experience breakthroughs when tackling complex mathematical concepts and problems.
I will be your student’s encourager and ally. I’m patient, empathetic, discerning, and keenly aware that everyone has a unique learning style. I’m adept at explaining concepts from different angles and finding the right approach to make things click. Light bulb moments! These breakthroughs can make a student go from hating math to loving it!
I’m a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Math. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Colorado College. I have been a classroom teacher and an online teacher, but my favorite way to teach is one-on-one as a tutor.
