FAQ’s

Where does the tutoring take place?

In-person tutoring takes place at my home at 42 Sandra Ln. Manitou Springs, CO 80829

What options do you offer?

I offer both in-person and online tutoring. My appointments are one hour long, but I do offer longer appointments if needed. I tutor individuals and small groups up to 4 students.

What age group do you tutor?

Most of my students are high school and college level students; occasionally I tutor adults who are taking classes, re-entering the workforce, or studying for a GED.

Can you work with my schedule?

High school and college students tend to have schedules that change frequently. I try to be as accommodating as possible offering tutoring appointments mornings, afternoons and evenings as needed.

Can we meet in person before committing to a tutoring schedule?

Yes, I encourage signing up for a 30-minute consultation as the first step to getting started.

Are contracts required or can the frequency of the lessons be changed as needed?

I do not require any contracts. I want my students to make sure we are a good fit before scheduling repeat appointments. And, since tutoring needs can change throughout the year, I try to be very flexible with my scheduling. Most of my students schedule repeat appointments once a week which allows them to keep up with what is going on in the classroom. Some students just need help with the occasional test, and I always try to fit those students in as my schedule allows.

What results can we expect to see?

Nearly all my students have improved at least one letter grade after meeting with me throughout the year. Their confidence will improve significantly as we unlock the mysteries of math. This newfound confidence helps them understand what is going on in their classroom so they don’t feel so lost. When students begin to believe that they actually CAN do math, I have witnessed their academic success flow into other subjects as well.

What is your tutoring style?

I am patient, encouraging, and tenacious about teaching a concept in different ways until I see the lightbulb go on. I like to tailor our sessions around supporting what the student is doing in class primarily with the methods that the teacher is using so that the student can follow what is being done in the classroom.

Will you adjust your tutoring to my learning style?

I have tutored for many years which has allowed me to see many different learning styles. Part of the fun of tutoring one-on-one is figuring out what will work with each student. I will adjust as needed and even research outside resources to enhance our appointments.

Will you communicate with my teacher?

I will communicate with my student’s teachers if the student and parent both agree that my connecting with the teacher would be beneficial.
